Do I need a helmet?

• New Zealand law states cyclists must wear an approved cycle helmet when biking on public roads. All Waihi Bicycle Hire helmets comply and are supplied free with your bike.

Safety

• Cyclists share the road with motor vehicles.
• Please show consideration to other trail users and ride on the left, in single file so as not to endanger others.
• You must follow the New Zealand road rules and we recommend that you wear bright clothing.
• A copy of the road code for cyclists is available.
• If you are consuming alcohol, be aware that you must follow the drink-driving laws as per a motorised vehicle.
• Use clear arm signals when you intend to slow down, turn or stop.
